Once upon a time, there lived a young Jewish woman named Mary from a city named Nazareth of Galilee. She came from a humble background and was far from being a celebrity. Nazareth was a small city despised by other Jews. ( can anything good come out of Nazareth? Joh.1:46). This young woman was engaged to a young man named Joseph whose profession was mere carpentry. One thing was significant about her, Mary was a virgin and had the fear of God.
Mary thought her story would start and end in Nazareth. What was Nazareth in the history of Israel after all, not to talk of her? Yet, out of the celebrated young ladies in Israel, no one was found worthy to conceived our Lord Jesus, Saviour of the world except that poor young woman, from an insignificant family in an insignificant city. Amazing, Mary’s story did not just spread all over Israel, but all over the world. Hallelujah! Anytime the birth of Jesus is mentioned, her name must be mentioned.
The time is right at the corner, it is the season of Christmas; the time our Saviour was born, and the carols are singing,
Joy to the world, the Lord has come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing….
What are you thinking of in this season sister, are you worried that you have nothing to celebrate for? Maybe you wish you were like Ms A or B, and since you are not like them you have nothing to show. You feel you are insignificant, right? Remember, Mary must have also thought so, God proved to her that He is the one that makes people great. Yours won’t be different either. Perhaps you are grieving and disappointed, and you feel the season does not make any difference; I have good news for you,
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be
upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty
God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of
Peace.
Of the increase of his government
and of peace
there will be no end,
On the throne of David and over his
kingdom,
to establish it and uphold it
With justice and with
righteousness
from this time forth and
forevermore.
And his delight shall be in the fear
of the LORD.
He shall not judge by what his
eyes see,
Or decides disputes by what his
ears hear,
But with righteousness, he shall
judge the poor,
And decide with equity for the
meek of the earth;
And he shall strike the earth with
the rod of his mouth,
And with the breath of his lips,
he shall kill the wicked. Isaiah 9:6-7, 11:3-4.
So cheer up, and let us celebrate the birth of our Saviour, for surely he will celebrate You! Join the angels as we sing,
Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among
Those whom he is pleased. Lk.2:14
MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Katie Braswell says
Thank you so much for sharing, Sarah! It’s so important to reflect on our beautiful gift. The child born to die for us. I will rejoice this season, no matter what lies under the tree or on our table. No matter what the world thinks our Christmas should look like, I will hide in my heart what truly matters. Praise be to our God. For sending such a beautiful sacrifice. <3

God Bless you Katie for throwing more light on the Person(Jesus Christ) we are celebrating, and your commitment to him I pray that all of us would have that focus.
