The word peace is a vocabulary that is on our lips daily, but it is very scarce all over the world. The Government spends billions of dollars on security as well as individuals; all with the hope that would translate to peace. When that seems not forthcoming, some resort to changing locations within and outside the country in search of it.
Only Jesus can give peace
But how many of us can boast of enjoying this ever-searching peace? Apart from terrorism and crimes that are threatening our lives outwardly, personal and family issues threatens us inwardly such that peace had remained a vocabulary than an experience to many of us.
The fact remains, nowhere in the world can we find peace except from the Prince of peace. He said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (Joh.14:27).
Real peace casts out fear
The peace that Jesus gives takes away fear from our hearts; it gives joy even when our lives are threatened because it is an experience not a mere vocabulary. The beauty of it all is that it does not cost a dime; it is free. All it takes is to allow him become the master of your life. By this it means surrendering all your cares to him, and trust him with the whole of your heart. Whatever you may be experiencing in life, he went through more than that for your sake, and so he understands your situation better than you do. This is his invitation to you:
Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me because I am lowly and humble at heart, and you would find rest for your souls” (Matt.11:28-29).
Why not heed his invitation and find rest for your soul. The world’s troubles may never ceased but in Jesus you can live peacefully amidst it.
