Do you understand that there is something in you that no one else has? You are a unique person without a duplicate. Think about those old days, when your husband asked your hand in marriage; why did he stick to you, and not another woman? There is something he saw in you that he needed badly. Guess what? You have a charm given to you by God, which you can make him find fulfilment in life. How you use it, is what matters.
God, Himself said,
“It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him” Gen.2:18
When God made the woman and presented her to the man, the man said,
“This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called the woman” Gen.2:23b
He was happy and fulfilled with her around him.
The lost, and the restoration of the woman’s position
But the woman was carried away by the exotic fruits that were in the garden, and she forgot her worth. The serpent studied the situation and found out she was vulnerable, and then it tempted her. Satan succeeded in deceiving our mother; the first woman. He knew that if he gets hold of the woman she can easily influence her husband, and so it was.
Though she was deceived and lost her position, Our Lord Jesus has restored it through the new covenant. The scripture says,
“Having cancelled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us, and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross”.Col.2:14-15
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death”. Rom.8:1
So, in Christ Jesus, you have been restored to the woman God said you are. You have the full potential to help your husband become complete.
You have the favour of God
Now, you may be thinking, if that is who you are, why are things not falling in place naturally? Why the struggles in your marriage? That is the reason why I wrote this piece, to remind you that you are equal to the task. God brought you into the life of your husband for a purpose, and He wants you to accomplish it. The Scripture says,
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing; and obtains favour from the Lord” Prov.18:22.
Do you understand the magnitude of that statement?
I searched online for more insight into these words good and favour and made these discoveries:
1. Good-
i. Possessing desirable qualities, beneficial, agreeable.
ii. Moral excellence, piety
iii. Kind, benevolent
iv. Not blemished, honourable
v. Pleasure-giving, happy
vi. Not small or deficient(full, complete)
vii. Serviceable, adequate, sufficient.
2. Favour- gaining approval, acceptance, or blessings.
You are save to served
Amazing! From the preceding, you are a precious gift to your husband. You are excellent, kind, and honourable; a source of happiness to your husband. God can give your husband favour for your sake. Having you in his life constitute a blessing to him. No wonder, in 1 Peter3:1-2 the scripture says,
“Wives, be submissive to your husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.”
Challenges are no barrier to your marital success
Have you ever taken note of that significant position God placed you, or you are carried away by the prevailing situation around you? Maybe you are facing some marital challenges, and you can’t imagine yourself as that woman God said you are. The fact that you are having issues in your marriage is not enough for you to conclude that you have failed.
So, don’t give the devil (Satan called the serpent) a chance to deceive you as he did to our mother; the first woman. Challenges in marriage are opportunities for the woman to fall back to her worth and initiate a better way of approach to it. The problems you may be facing are not to pull you down, instead, to motivate you to fold back to God for grace and bring out that good thing in you.
Misplacement of priority
The sad thing with some of us today is they pay attention to their physical outlook alone and neglect the most important part which is their inner beauty. While others are concentrating on their outward appearance alone, others are neither taking care of the physical nor the inner beauty. They have given up to fate by believing that they are incapable of facing their challenges. As a result, confusion has taken over their families. The husband is following a different direction; the wife another and the children not knowing which to take.
God is on your side
God is willing and ready to use you and transform your marriage so that you can be a blessing to your husband. Would you avail yourself, or you are still holding onto the offences your husband committed against you? Painful as those offences may appear to be, God can heal all the hurts that pain has inflicted on your heart, and grant you the grace to forgive. He is willing to give you His grace and peace to remain patient and persevere amid that trying moment.
But this can only be possible if you surrender your life to Jesus and make prayer part of your life. Jesus said,
“If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7
I can almost hear you thinking, “I have been praying without any results.”Jesus said we should persist in prayers without giving up. Luke 18:1. At the appointed time He will answer your prayers because our God works with time. He did it for me, and you can do it for you also. All it takes is to trust and obey Him.
Great testimony of a woman who knows her worth
The Saturday before last, dated Nov.17, 2018; there was a wedding service in my Church. After the solemnization of the marriage, the father of the groom was called upon to give his vote of thanks. When he got up, he shouted, “Prai….se the Lord”! The congregation answered “ha..lleluiah”! He repeated it, and the congregation answered the same thing.
Then he asked his wife to stand (that is the groom’s mother) and he said, “that is my angel, without her, this wedding wouldn’t have been possible. I abandoned her and the children and went away for five years without any communication between us. This woman endured all the hardship I put her into; she stood firm in her faith and kept praying for me all those years. At last, God arrested me and reunited me with my family. Today we are celebrating her faithfulness”.
No success is without pain
I am sure that woman did not find it easy during those years. Think of the trauma of her husband’s sudden departure to an unknown place, and the struggle to cater for the children. This woman persevered, and at the appointed time God answered her prayer. Her husband did not only come home, but he became borne again and eventually became a Pastor. Last Saturday he did not only celebrate his son’s wedding, but he also preached.
What if the woman had given up and found her way out of the marriage, Imagine what could happen to the man and the children. Possibly the man would be lost in sin, and the children have gone wayward. But God has wiped her tears and rewarded her with a happy married life. Awaiting her is the greatest reward in the life to come. The scripture says,
“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.” Daniel 12:3
Your worth is in Christ
You are the woman God said you are, never get carried away by anything; with God on your side, everything is possible. Whatever the situation may be, the God that did it for that woman will also do it for you. All it takes is for you to surrender everything to Christ, and you would be surprised to see the impact you can make on your husband. If you sincerely come to God and willingly submit to Him, His grace is available to help you.
