Have you ever wished you were better off, you felt there was something lacking in you which limits your worth? Or there is something you have been desiring and is out of your reach? Or still, yet you are into a relationship that has drained your peace leaving you frustrated and dejected? Have you been diagnosed with a disease that is termed terminal? Or you have lost a dear one that you so much cherish and you feel life will never make any meaning again.
At one time or the other we are faced with life challenges that we wished we could escape from, and live a problem-free life, unfortunately, reality has no such provisions. Time after time we are confronted with one challenge or the other which we must face or pretend it does not exist, yet cannot deny its devastating effects on us. We may try to cover them with beautiful outfits or forcing some smiles on our faces but the fact remains; we are ebbing away inwardly.
Some of us have gone to several men of God and have been assured of miracles over and over yet we are no better than ever. Some so called men of God have added more burden to us by creating enmity between us and our loved ones by telling us they are the cause of our problems ( which is common in the African society). Many have given up on God because He seems to be silent about their problems, it is like He is incapable or has decided to ignore them because they have sinned. They have resorted to other means they think might relieve them of these challenges, but have been dragged much deeper in them.
The fact is, the troubles of life will never end and no one is exempted from them except that they depend on their peculiarity. Even Jesus testified, “ In the world, you will have tribulation……”. So what is the way out? Did God just dumped us in this world and abandoned us to life’s fate? I have good news for you, God has not abandoned His own and He will never.
The same Jesus who said, “In the world, you will have tribulation” did not stop there but went on and said, “But take heart I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). He also said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10), “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27). “ Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Mat.11:28-29).
In Isaiah 43:1b-4, God said, “ I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you, when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your saviour…………Because you are precious in my eyes and honoured, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life”.
As Christians, we don’t have a different world that is free from challenges, we are bound to experience the storms of life but we have the assurance that we are not alone in them. God assured us that He will be there to protect us lest we are harmed. No matter the storm Jesus is there to calm it.He will not allow our challenges to overwhelm us but will walk us out of them triumphantly.
Beloved sister, I may not know your challenges; one thing I know is the one who promised is faithful, and He will surely keep His promise if you put your trust in Him. Why not drop on your knees right now and ask him to take over. Dumped all your cares and worries on Him and allow Him to take charge. He will take off the heavy burden from you and replace it with his peace that can survive every storm of life.
God bless you.
